We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Modeller, BIM (MEP) to join our team in Bukit Damansara, Malaysia. The successful candidate will lead the development, coordination, and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) deliverables for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems across a range of complex building and infrastructure projects.
This role requires strong technical expertise in BIM authoring and coordination, leadership capabilities, and a thorough understanding of MEP design integration, BIM standards, and digital engineering workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex BIM and Plant Data-Centric modeling assignments using multiple digital platforms, including Revit, Intergraph SmartPlant, Plant 3D, and other industry-standard software.
- Develop, manage, and maintain accurate BIM models for MEP systems throughout project lifecycles.
- Coordinate closely with architects, structural engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems.
- Conduct clash detection, analysis, and resolution to identify and eliminate design conflicts between disciplines.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance BIM content libraries and parametric families for MEP components.
- Support the optimization of MEP designs to improve constructability, efficiency, and system performance.
- Generate accurate quantity take-offs, schedules, and project documentation directly from BIM models.
- Lead the implementation of BIM standards, protocols, and best practices across projects.
- Utilize and support BIM automation tools and workflows to improve productivity and quality.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to BIM modellers and project teams.
- Manage BIM deliverables for assigned projects and ensure compliance with project requirements, quality standards, and deadlines.
- Work under general supervision while performing advanced technical duties using a broad range of digital engineering resources and technologies.
- May be responsible for leading all or part of a project and supervising BIM production workflows.
- Diploma in Engineering, Architectural Technology, Building Services, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in MEP BIM modeling, coordination, and project delivery.
- Demonstrated experience using BIM software, particularly:
- Autodesk Revit MEP
- AutoCAD MEP
- Navisworks
- Proven experience managing BIM teams and coordinating multidisciplinary project environments.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems design principles, coordination processes, and BIM workflows.
- Experience delivering large-scale commercial, institutional, transportation, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in clash detection, model coordination, and BIM execution planning.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects within tight deadlines.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience within a consulting engineering or design consultancy environment.
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 and industry BIM standards.
- Experience with BIM automation tools, scripting, or digital engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with Common Data Environments (CDEs) and digital project delivery platforms.
