Yard Operative – AVS Peterborough Join the AVS Peterborough Team Lawsons is looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative to join the team at our AVS Peterborough branch. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help keep the yard safe, organised and running efficiently while providing excellent service to our customers. As a Yard Operative, you’ll work as part of a busy branch team, supporting the receipt, storage and preparation of timber, building, fencing and landscaping products for customer collection and delivery. The Role Your responsibilities will include: Loading and unloading deliveries safely and efficiently Picking and preparing customer orders accurately Organising and maintaining stock within the yard Supporting customers with their collections and loading purchases where appropriate Checking goods for quality and reporting any shortages or damage Working closely with branch colleagues, drivers and the sales team Keeping the yard, warehouse and surrounding areas clean, tidy and well organised Following all company health and safety procedures Using yard equipment responsibly and completing any required checks What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is practical, dependable and takes pride in delivering a great service. You’ll need: Experience in a yard, warehouse, builders’ merchant, distribution or similar environment is essential. A valid Forklift License. A positive, hardworking and reliable approach The ability to work effectively as part of a team Good attention to detail when picking and handling products A strong focus on health and safety Good communication and customer service skills The ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding role Flexibility to support the needs of a busy branch Why Join Lawsons?
