Role Summary
Flowserve is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the execution of high-value and complex customer orders for engineered flow-control equipment. The Project Engineer in engaged in technical and operational activities throughout the order-execution lifecycle to ensure order requirements, contractual commitments, quality and safety standards, schedules, and financial objectives are achieved.
Working closely with project managers, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, finance, service teams, suppliers, and customers, the Project Engineer supports order execution from product selection through manufacturing to handoff to service and support.
The role is directly engaged in manufacturing execution and may require regular visits to Flowserve factories, supplier facilities, and customer sites. The Project Engineer identifies execution risks, resolves technical and documentation issues, coordinates cross-functional actions, and promotes consistent application of Flowserve project-management standards, processes, and lessons learned.
Job Purpose
The Project Engineer serves as a technical and execution focal point among customers, project teams, manufacturing sites, and external suppliers. Under the direction of Project Management leadership and in collaboration with assigned project managers and factory teams, the role monitors project health, coordinates technical deliverables, supports milestone achievement, facilitates issue resolution, and contributes to accurate financial forecasting and project reporting.
The Project Engineer also supports disciplined use of global project-management procedures, change controls, risk-management methods, document-control practices, and reporting tools to improve customer experience and project performance.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution and Coordination
Provide technical support for flow-control order execution from product selection through order closeout. Coordinate cross-functional activities required for the efficient and timely delivery of engineered-to-order flow-control equipment. Serve as a technical and execution focal point among customers, project managers, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, finance, service teams, and external suppliers. Provide technical and operational support to factory project managers throughout the project lifecycle. Escalate complex issues and coordinate appropriate subject-matter experts and stakeholders when additional technical expertise or authority is required. Review technical requirements, customer specifications, project scope, and technical documentation to ensure requirements are understood, communicated, and incorporated into execution plans. Support cost reduction, lead-time improvement, and execution-efficiency initiatives while maintaining compliance with customer, contractual, quality, and safety requirements.
Project Controls and Financial Performance
Monitor project schedules, milestones, deliverables, financial performance, and closeout requirements to maintain alignment of activities to goals. Support the tracking and forecasting of revenue, gross margin, percent completion, cash flow, invoicing, collections, aging receivables, and delivery performance. Support the timely submission of project-status reports covering overall project health, financial performance, customer experience, key risks, milestones, and execution metrics. Identify performance gaps, analyze contributing factors, and work with the Project Manager and cross-functional team to develop and implement corrective-action and recovery plans.
Risk, Change, and Commercial Management
Identify technical, commercial, schedule, quality, supply-chain, and execution risks where execution plan offers a result potentially misaligned with order requirements. Protect Flowserve’s commercial interests by identifying contractual risks, documenting required actions, and escalating significant concerns to the Project Manager and appropriate project-management leadership. Ensure changes to scope, specifications, schedule, cost, or execution requirements are documented, evaluated, approved, and communicated through the applicable change-management process. Proactively communicate emerging concerns and escalate issues when additional resources, technical support, commercial direction, or management decisions are required.
Documentation and Governance
Coordinate the preparation, review, submission, and approval of project deliverables, including technical documents, inspection and test procedures, execution documents, and customer-specific documentation. Process technical, commercial, quality, and project-execution documentation to ensure accuracy, traceability, revision control, timely submission, and compliance with contractual and Flowserve requirements.
