Behind the scenes, we build and operate systems that manage vehicle sourcing, inspection, photography, merchandising, reconditioning, financing, insurance, shipping, and much more. Our goal is to make car buying a seamless, transparent, and enjoyable experience. We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Used Cars Refurbishment Manager to lead our vehicle reconditioning department. In this role, you will manage the entire lifecycle of pre-owned vehicles from the moment they are acquired until they hit the sales floor. Your primary goal is to oversee mechanical repairs, bodywork, and detailing while balancing quick turnaround times, strict quality standards, and budget constraints. Key Responsibilities Operations & Turnaround Management Streamline the end-to-end reconditioning process to meet target turnaround times (e.g., frontline ready within 3–5 days). Coordinate workflow between mechanical, body shop, and detailing teams. Manage sublet repairs and maintain strong relationships with outside vendors for specialized work. Quality Assurance & Compliance Implement rigorous multi-point inspection and quality control processes. Ensure all refurbished vehicles meet state safety regulations and dealership brand standards. Conduct final test drives and cosmetic sign-offs before releasing vehicles to inventory. Financial & Inventory Control Manage the monthly refurbishment budget and track cost-per-vehicle metrics. Review and approve all repair estimates, parts orders, and vendor invoices. Monitor shop supply inventory and order parts efficiently to minimize vehicle downtime. Team Leadership & Safety Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise technicians, detailers, and support staff. Set clear performance goals and conduct regular evaluations. Enforce safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and shop safety policies. Requirements Experience: 3+ years of experience in automotive reconditioning management, service advising, or service shop management. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of automotive mechanics, collision repair, and detailing techniques. Leadership: Proven ability to manage, motivate, and hold a diverse team accountable. Software Skills: Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS) and inventory tracking tools.
