Hydrogeologist

Overview

• Working on a diverse range of hydrogeological projects across Canada, including mine sites, landfills, contaminated sites, remediation projects, and water supply assessment and development.
• Supporting technical studies involving groundwater modelling, geological modelling, and geochemical investigations.
• Implementing hydrogeological field programs, including drilling, well installation, permeability testing, soil and water sampling, borehole instrumentation, and contractor management.
• Planning and leading field investigation programs, including directing the collection and analysis of field data.
• Travelling as required to conduct field programs and meet project needs.
• Supporting and leading quality control, project planning, cost estimating, and scheduling activities.
• Preparing graphical and GIS deliverables.
• Developing three-dimensional conceptual geological and hydrogeological models.
• Interpreting and reporting groundwater flow and water quality data.
• Overseeing the preparation of technical reports and deliverables, including potentiometric surface and water table maps, geological and hydrogeological cross-sections, groundwater model simulations, water balance assessments, dewatering assessments, and hydrogeological impact assessments.
• Mentoring junior geoscientists and supporting their technical development.
• B.Sc. or higher degree in earth sciences, geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or related engineering discipline (environmental, chemical, etc.)
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• M.Sc. or higher degree in earth sciences, geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or related engineering discipline (environmental, chemical, etc.)
• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• 6+ years of experience conducting hydrogeological and/or geochemical assessments.
• Registered (or eligible to register) as a Professional Geoscientist or Engineer with EGBC.
• A strong understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel software packages.
• Working knowledge and experience with industry-standard software packages such as gINT, AQTESOLV, GRAPHER, AQUACHEM, EVS, FEFLOW, MODFLOW, SEEP/W, PHREEQC, GoldSim, etc.
• Consulting experience and knowledge of provincial and federal acts and policies.
• Experience with GIS and database management software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong decision making and communication skills.
• Ability to speak both French and English an asset.

Job Description

AECOM's  Burnaby, BC office is looking for an  Hydrogeologist  to join their growing team of hydrogeologists within the Environment Business Line. We are looking for candidates that are enthusiastic, team oriented professionals with strong technical capabilities in physical and contaminant hydrogeology. In this role, you will work with our experienced team of hydrogeologists on projects in the mining, waste management, remediation and water supply sectors in Western, Central, Eastern, and Northern Canada as well as internationally. This is a  Full-time  role.
