Overview
- Lead and coordinate multiple surgical projects simultaneously, ensuring timely execution and alignment with departmental goals.
- Develop project plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and budgets.
- Track and monitor project progress, adjusting plans as needed to meet evolving needs or changes.
- Ensure clear communication and collaboration between surgical teams, hospital administration, and external partners.
- Organize and facilitate project meetings, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of progress and any issues.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Transformation, the Clinical Director of Surgery, and Chief of Surgery, as well as surgical teams to identify areas for process improvement and assist in the implementation of new protocols or systems.
- Help streamline workflows to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the surgical department.
- Assist in the preparation and review of operational procedures and ensure they comply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Gather and analyze data on key performance metrics, such as surgical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiencies.
- Provide regular reports to the Clinical Director of Surgery, highlighting project progress, challenges, and successes.
- Develop presentations and documents for senior leadership, providing insights on project status and performance.
- Work closely with surgeons, nurses, administrative staff, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of surgical projects.
- Serve as a point of contact for project-related inquiries, providing support and guidance to staff.
- Coordinate with external vendors or consultants as necessary to ensure project requirements are met.
- Ensure that all projects adhere to applicable regulatory standards (e.g., JCAHO, HIPAA, AORN) and institutional policies.
- Assist in risk assessment and mitigation strategies for surgical operations and projects.
- Monitor project-related compliance issues, addressing concerns as they arise and working to resolve them in a timely manner.
- Support the development and management of project budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that costs are controlled.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in a healthcare or surgical setting.
- Experience working in a hospital or surgical department, with a strong understanding of surgical operations and patient care workflows.

Job Summary
The Senior Project Coordinator for The Sprott Department of Surgery will play a critical role in supporting the successful execution of surgical initiatives and projects aimed at improving patient care, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring adherence to clinical standards. This position will collaborate closely with surgeons, surgical teams, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of various surgical programs and projects.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Transformation and Quality, the ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, an understanding of surgical operations, and a proven ability to coordinate complex tasks across multidisciplinary teams. The Senior Project Coordinator will ensure that all projects are completed on time, within scope, and meet quality and regulatory standards.
