The Assistant Store Manager partners with the Store Manager to lead daily store operations, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and achieve sales and operational objectives. This role develops and inspires high-performing teams while driving merchandising execution, financial performance, and operational excellence. Through collaborative leadership and sound business decision-making, the Assistant Store Manager helps create an engaging environment that supports Mattel's brand, people, and business goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead daily Store and Restaurant operations to achieve sales, customer service, financial, and operational goals while ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
- Develop, coach, and inspire leaders and associates through ongoing feedback, performance management, succession planning, and talent development to build a high-performing team.
- Drive sales performance by monitoring key performance indicators, modeling selling behaviors, and implementing strategies that increase customer engagement, conversion, UPT, ADS, and customer data capture.
- Oversee operational execution by ensuring effective inventory management, merchandising standards, cash handling, workflow efficiency, and overall store readiness.
- Partner with the Store Manager and cross-functional business partners to execute store strategies, support organizational initiatives, and deliver consistent operational excellence.
- Manage facility maintenance, vendor relationships, and store projects to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for customers and team members.
- Analyze financial performance, payroll, expenses, and operational metrics to identify opportunities, improve efficiency, and support informed business decisions.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree or coursework in Business, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of progressive retail leadership experience in a high-volume, customer-focused environment.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing retail management teams.
- Proven leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
- Strong ability to drive sales performance and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, inventory management, cash handling, and operational best practices.
- Financial acumen with experience managing payroll, budgets, and business performance metrics.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and retail business systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
Education & Experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The pay range for this position is between $70,400 and $88,000 annually. The pay range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base pay will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
